Checking Vehicle Level

NOTE: This procedure is to be used only if Measuring Device (201 589 00 21 00) is not available.
  1. If Measuring Device (201 589 00 21 00) is not available, riding height specification cannot be checked, however, vehicle level can be checked using a tape measure. Ensure vehicle is on a level surface. Bounce vehicle from front and rear several times to settle suspension.
  2. If vehicle is not bounced prior to checking for vehicle level, errors of 7/32-9/32" (5-7 mm) may occur due to friction of joints and bearings. Using a tape measure (metric preferred), check distance from center of wheel to edge of fender.
  3. Maximum allowable difference from front to rear of vehicle is 19/32" (15 mm). If vehicle is out of level, repair or replace suspension components as necessary. See ADJUSTING RIDING HEIGHT .
