Test 2: Remote Trunk Release Switch Illumination

  1. Unlock trunk with key. Close trunk. Press trunk release switch. If LED on trunk release switch illuminates, remote trunk release switch illumination is okay at this time. If LED on trunk release switch does not illuminate, check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If wiring is okay, check the following as possible cause and repair as necessary:
    • Go to next step.
    • Perform pneumatic system TEST 8: RETRACTABLE HARD TOP CLOSED LIMIT SWITCH CIRCUIT. See PNEUMATIC SYSTEM EQUIPMENT under SYSTEM TESTS .
    • Replace trunk lid microswitch.
  2. On SL500, go to next step. On CL500, S320, S420 and S500, go to step 4).
  3. Disconnect PSE control module harness connectors. Using Harness Adapter (202 589 16 63 00), connect Breakout Box (129 589 00 21 00) to Pneumatic System Equipment (PSE) control module harness connectors. Measure voltage between terminals No. 7 and 18 at breakout box. When trunk lid is closed, battery voltage should exist. When trunk lid is open, less than one volt should exist. If voltage is as specified, remote trunk release switch illumination circuit is okay at this time. If voltage is not as specified, check wiring. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If wiring is okay, replace trunk lid microswitch.
  4. Disconnect PSE control module harness connectors. Using Harness Adapter (140 589 13 63 00), connect Breakout Box (129 589 00 21 00) to Pneumatic System Equipment (PSE) control module harness connectors. Measure voltage between positive battery voltage and terminal No. 61 at breakout box.
