Acceleration Slip Regulation V
Acceleration Slip Regulation V (ASR V) monitors steering angle and accelerator pedal position (throttle valve actuator). Wheel speed input is continuously monitored by ASR V control module. When ASR V control module determines traction is lost at one or both drive wheels, ASR V control module actuates high pressure pump/return pump, switchover solenoid valve, intake solenoid valve and solenoid valves for rear axle to apply the brakes to appropriate drive wheel until slip is brought under control. Solenoid valves for left and right front axle are actuated separately.
If both ABS and ASR warning lights illuminate while engine is running, a fault may exist in both control circuits and both systems are turned off. Fault codes are stored in respective control modules. ASR functions can be switched off using switch located on center console. With ASR functions switched off, ASR control remains active but is less sensitive.
