SERVICE INFORMATION

03M/99-1 RECALLS AND SERVICE CAMPAIGNS: WHEN REPAIRING ANY VEHICLE, ALWAYS CHECK THE VEHICLE MASTER INQUIRY FOR OPEN CAMPAIGNS

03M/99-2 GROUP 27 - M-CLASS WITH TRANSMISSION 722.6: Please check the transmission selector lever switch before replacing a valve body or control module for a transmission shift complaint. Diagnostic code 114 may not set for intermittent contact, therefore it is very important that the HHT is connected before the first start. The technician should view the Actual Values screen and note the value while driving and manually shifting. If the shift selector actual value reads "F" then it is defective and should be replaced. The DTC can then be viewed but will erase with the next key cycle. A similar complaint of no shifting or late shifting may occur if any form of liquid contaminates the switch. Liquid contamination is not a warrantable defect.
