Function 

The front seat belts have electronically controlled, pyrotechnical emergency tensioning retractors which automatically increase the tension on the seat belts in the event of a collision (head-on or rear-end collision).

The crash is evaluated and, where necessary, the left front ETR squib (R12/1) and right front ETR squib (R12/2) are triggered by the ETR control module with airbag (N2/2).
