Left Cylinder Bank ME-SFI Control Module (N3/12)

NOTE: Left cylinder bank actual value potentiometer is located in left cylinder bank throttle valve actuator (M16/3). Potentiometer produces 2 signals, signal 1 and signal 2. Left cylinder bank throttle valve actuator is located on right side of engine (because of intake manifold crossover). For ME-SFI control module location and identification, see ME-SFI CONTROL MODULE CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  .
  1. Left Cylinder Bank Throttle Valve Actuator Motor (M16/3), Actuation -  Connect DVOM between left cylinder bank ME-SFI control module connector 2 terminals No. 74 and 75 (socket box terminals No. 74 and 75). Turn ignition on. Voltage should be 1-2.3 volts. Start engine and idle. Allow engine to reach an operating temperature of more than 158°F (70°C). Voltage should be 1-2.5 volts and fluctuating. If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, possible causes are wiring harness failure, left cylinder bank throttle valve actuator motor (M16/3) failure or defective left cylinder bank ME-SFI control module (N3/11). Repair as necessary.
  2. Left Cylinder Bank Throttle Valve Actuator Motor (M16/3), Resistance -  Turn ignition off. Connect DVOM between left cylinder bank ME-SFI control module connector 2 terminals No. 74 and 75 (socket box terminals No. 74 and 75). Resistance should be less than 10 ohms. If resistance is okay, test is complete. If resistance is not okay, possible causes are wiring harness failure, left cylinder bank throttle valve actuator motor (M16/3) failure or defective left cylinder bank ME-SFI control module (N3/11). Repair as necessary.
