Camshaft Hall Sensor (B6/1)

NOTE: Manufacturer recommends checking camshaft hall-effect sensor signal using an oscilloscope. If an oscilloscope is not available, testing can be performed with a DVOM.
  1. Camshaft Hall-Effect Sensor Signal (Testing With Oscilloscope) -  Connect oscilloscope between ME-SFI control module connector "E" terminals No. 39 and 40 (socket box terminals No. 95 and 96). Observe oscilloscope with engine idling. See Fig 1 .

  2. If oscilloscope pattern is okay, go to step  4 . If oscilloscope pattern is not okay, possible cause wiring harness failure or camshaft hall-effect sensor (B6/1) defective. Repair as necessary.
  3. Camshaft Hall-Effect Sensor Signal (Testing With DVOM) -  Connect DVOM between ME-SFI control module connector "E" terminal No. 40 (socket box terminal No. 96) and ME-SFI control module connector "A" terminal No. 2 (socket box terminal No. 2). Observe DVOM with engine idling. Voltage should be 1.2-2.2 volts. Voltage will vary slightly. If voltage is not okay, possible causes are wiring harness failure or camshaft hall-effect sensor (B6/1) defective. Repair as necessary.
  4. Camshaft Hall-Effect Sensor (Voltage Supply) -  Disconnect camshaft hall-effect sensor (B6/1) connector. Turn ignition on. Connect DVOM between camshaft hall-effect sensor (B6/1) connector (harness side) terminals No. 1 (Brown/Green wire) and 3 (Red/Blue wire). Voltage should be 11-14 volts. If voltage is within specification, test is complete. If voltage is not within specification, possible cause is wiring harness failure. Repair as necessary.
