Variable Intake Manifold Inoperative
- Actuation - Connect DVOM between ME-SFI control module connector "E" terminal No. 12 (socket box terminal No. 68) and ME-SFI control module connector "A" terminal No. 2 (socket box terminal No. 2). Start engine and idle. Voltage should be less than one volt with engine idling. Briefly blip throttle open until engine speed is more than 3900 RPM. Voltage should be 9-14 volts and intake manifold vacuum unit should respond. If voltage is within specification and intake manifold vacuum unit operates as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not within specification or intake manifold vacuum unit does not operates as specified, possible causes are wiring harness failure, intake manifold switchover valve (Y22/6) defective or ME-SFI control module (N3/10) defective. Repair as necessary.
- Current Consumption - Turn engine off with ignition on. Connect ammeter between ME-SFI control module connector "A" terminal No. 3 (socket box terminal No. 3) and ME-SFI control module connector "E" terminal No. 12 (socket box terminal No. 68). Amperage should be .3-.5 amps. If amperage is within specification, test is complete. If amperage is not within specification, possible causes are wiring harness failure, intake manifold switchover valve (Y22/6) defective or ME-SFI control module (N3/10) defective. Repair as necessary.
