Mercedes-Benz mbrace Subscription Programming

This Service Bulletin covers instructions to convert all Pre-owned, CPO and customer vehicle control modules to mbrace. These instructions are necessary for customers who wish to subscribe to Mercedes-Benz mbrace, and whose vehicles have not already been programmed to call mbrace.

NOTE: Please ensure that this operation is carried out only if the customer signs up with mbrace. IF THE SUBSCRIBER AGREEMENT IS NOT SUBMITTED, THE CLAIM WILL NOT BE PAID.

Please reprogram the mbrace (N123/4) control module as described in the procedure below.

  1. Check VMI to see if there is previous mbrace subscription information in the Service Packages area (e.g. if the customer had already signed up in the past) - if there is, no programming is necessary. Please proceed to step 5.
  2. Using STAR Diagnosis with DVD 10/09 or higher, navigate the following menu path in
    1. DAS:  Control Units → Information and communication → Audio, video, navigation and telematics → Tele aid → Control Unit Adaptations → Telematic Services: Phone Numbers → Hughes HTI.
    2. In Xentry:  Select DTA - Tele Aid (N123/4) → Select the "Adaptations" tab → In the menu item "Teach-in process" select "Coding phone numbers."
  3. Change the coding to "HTI USA."
  4. If during step 3, when you first entered into the Tele Aid control module, the control unit was found to be "Deactivated" then please perform steps a through c, otherwise, please proceed to step 5.
    1. Note down the VIN of the vehicle and the MEID/ESN of the Tele Aid control unit.
    2. Contact the mbrace dealer support center at 877-826-6319 and request a reactivation.
    3. You will receive the MIN/MDN/HSID from the Support Center. From here, you can either manually program these numbers into the vehicle, or perform a 3-button press to automatically program the Tele Aid control module. If you perform a 3-button press, you must disconnect STAR Diagnosis.
  5. Disconnect STAR Diagnosis and press the i-button  located in either the overhead control panel or in the center console.
  6. Once you hear the recorded message "mbrace by Mercedes-Benz", hang up the call.
  7. If the subscriber agreement has not already been submitted to the Mercedes-Benz mbrace Response Center, then please complete the mbrace Subscriber Service Agreement (found on NetStar under the Sales tab, click mbrace  located in the left hand column under Sales Links) and fax it to the Mercedes-Benz mbrace Response Center at 1-877-648-6777. Hard copies of this form will be distributed to each dealership by December 1 (part number P-2717-D10A).
NOTE: All New vehicle conversions are covered under Customer 1 Action 091101 . See VMI
