Rear Axle

NOTE: During procedures number(s) and letter(s) in parentheses correspond to number(s) and letter(s) inside the illustration(s). The word arrow(s) in parentheses is used to point out specific components or movement.

For checking riding height specifications, see FRONT RIDING HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS  table.

  1. Prepare for chassis alignment check. See PREPARATION FOR RIDING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT  .
  2. Check vehicle level at the rear axle via the rear axle shaft inclination. See Figure .
  3. Prepare for use of Electronic Inclinometer (CM 9606). See Figure under SPECIAL TOOLS. Clean measurement points on axles.
  4. The sensor connecting cable (086b) of the measuring sensor (086a) must point towards the center of the vehicle, otherwise there will be measurement inaccuracies.
  5. Position the measuring sensor (086a) on rear axle shaft. See Figure . Record the measured value in each case:
    • Measuring point 1 (left rear).
    • Measuring point 2 (right rear).
  6. Check riding height specifications, see FRONT RIDING HEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS  table. If rear riding height is outside of specification. See REAR AXLE ADJUSTMENT  under ADJUSTING RIDING HEIGHT.

(1) Use Inclination Measuring Instrument (CM-9606) to measure front and rear vehicle level (riding height).
