Pushbutton Switch (With DAS3)

NOTE: Drive Authorization System 3 (DAS3).

Before performing testing procedures, turn ignition off. Remove instrument cluster. Disconnect cruise control switch (S40/4) connector at instrument cluster.

  1. Decelerate/Set -  Connect DVOM between cruise control switch (S40/4) connector terminals No. 6 and 3. With pushbutton switch not actuated, resistance should be more than 20,000 ohms. With pushbutton switch in DECELERATE position, resistance should be less than one ohm. If resistance is within specification, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, possible causes are wiring harness failure or variable cruise control switch (S40/4) defective. Repair as necessary.
  2. Memory -  Connect DVOM between cruise control switch (S40/4) connector terminals No. 6 and 1. With pushbutton switch not actuated, resistance should be more than 20,000 ohms. With pushbutton switch in MEMORY position, resistance should be less than one ohm. If resistance is within specification, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, possible causes are wiring harness failure or variable cruise control switch (S40/4) defective. Repair as necessary.
  3. Accelerate/Set -  Connect DVOM between cruise control switch (S40/4) connector terminals No. 6 and 4. With pushbutton switch not actuated, resistance should be more than 20,000 ohms. With pushbutton switch in ACCELERATE position, resistance should be less than one ohm. If resistance is within specification, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, possible causes are wiring harness failure or variable cruise control switch (S40/4) defective. Repair as necessary.
  4. Switch Off -  Connect DVOM between cruise control switch (S40/4) connector terminals No. 6 and 5. With pushbutton switch not actuated, resistance should be less than one ohm. With pushbutton switch in OFF position, resistance should be more than 20,000 ohms. If resistance is within specification, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, possible causes are wiring harness failure or variable cruise control switch (S40/4) defective. Repair as necessary.
  5. Control Switching Contact -  Connect DVOM between cruise control switch (S40/4) connector terminals No. 6 and 2. With pushbutton switch not actuated, resistance should be more than 20,000 ohms. With pushbutton switch in ACCELERATE, DECELERATE, SAVE or OFF position, resistance should be less than one ohm. If resistance is within specification, go to next step. If resistance is not within specification, possible causes are wiring harness failure or variable cruise control switch (S40/4) defective. Repair as necessary.
  6. Changeover Between Cruise Control & Variable Speed Limitation -  Connect DVOM between cruise control switch (S40/4) connector terminals No. 8 and 7. With switch sliding part not actuated, resistance should be more than 20,000 ohms. With switch sliding part actuated, resistance should be less than one ohm. If resistance is within specification, test is complete. If resistance is not within specification, possible causes are wiring harness failure or variable cruise control switch (S40/4) defective. Repair as necessary.
