General Information On Chassis Alignment: Notes

CAUTION: If equipped disable power memory seats and steering wheel, damage to seat or steering wheel may result if steering wheel holder or brake pedal winch is in place and memory position goes into motion. See owner manual.
NOTE: Diagnosis of vehicles equipped with level control requires the use of Mercedes-Benz "STAR DIAGNOSIS" compact PC (6511 1801 00) scan tool. See instrument manufacturer's instructions for tool usage.
NOTE: Prior to performing wheel alignment, perform preliminary visual and mechanical inspection of wheels, tires and suspension components, correct any faults as needed.
NOTE: During procedures number(s) and letter(s) in parentheses correspond to number(s) and letter(s) inside the illustration(s). The word arrow(s) in parentheses is used to point out specific components or movement.
  1. Drive vehicle onto electronic alignment system. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Unlock rotary and sliding plates. Install brake pedal winch on brake. See Figure . Attach measuring heads to each wheel. Perform initial measurement. Check riding height (vehicle level) at front and rear axle and adjust as necessary. See RIDING HEIGHT (VEHICLE LEVEL)  .
  2. Perform alignment procedure as follows:
  3. Remove measuring heads and brake pedal winch. Test drive vehicle.
