CDI antiboil protection function - GF07.16-P-3016P

ENGINES 642 in MODEL 219.3, 209.3, 211.0/2, 209.4, 211.6

ENGINES 642 in MODEL 461.3

ENGINES 642.9 in MODEL 463.3

ENGINES 642 in MODEL 221.0, 203.0, 164.1, 203.2, 251.0/1, 164.8, 221.1 up to model year 2008/YoM 07

Except model 461

In order to protect the engine from thermal overload, for a coolant temperature above 105°C the injection quantity is reduced depending on the coolant temperature and oil temperature according to the performance maps stored in the CDI control unit (N3/9) and the engine and air conditioning electric suction fan with integrated control (M4/7) is actuated. To do this the CDI control unit reads in from the coolant temperature sensor (B11/4) and oil temperature sensor (B1). After evaluating the input signals, the CDI control unit regulates fuel pressure in the rail via the quantity control valve (Y94) and pressure regulator valve (Y74) and controls injection timing by actuating the fuel injectors (Y76).

Furthermore, on model 211.022 with OM 642.920 and code (494) USA version and on model 211.024 with OM 642.920, the two-disk thermostat heating element (R48) is actuated by the CDI control unit in order to open the coolant thermostat fully.

Model 461

In order to protect the engine from thermal overload the injection quantity is reduced for a coolant temperature above 105°C in addition to cooling by the viscous fan.

This occurs in accordance with the performance maps stored in the CDI control unit depending on the coolant temperature and oil temperature.

The CDI control unit also reads the coolant temperature sensor and the oil sensor (oil level, temperature and quality) (B40).

After evaluating the input signals, the CDI control unit regulates the fuel pressure in the rail via the quantity control valve and the pressure regulator valve, and controls the injection timing by actuating the fuel injectors.
