Location

The camshaft Hall sensor is located under the right cylinder head cover.

Task

The camshaft Hall sensor detects the position of the intake camshaft without contact via a segment at the camshaft and transmits this value to the CDI control unit (N3/9). Together with the crankshaft Hall sensor signal (B70) the camshaft Hall sensor signal is used for detection of cylinder 1.

Function

The camshaft Hall sensor is supplied with voltage by the CDI control unit. This causes a magnetic field to form in the camshaft Hall sensor. A segment on the camshaft passes through the magnetic field and changes it. A voltage signal is created in the camshaft Hall sensor.

The Hall IC integrated in the camshaft Hall sensor converts this voltage signal into a square wave signal in order to send it to the CDI control unit.
