Location
The quantity control valve is located on the high pressure pump flange for the high pressure pump.
Task
The high pressure pump has the following tasks:
- Regulation of the fuel feed to the pump elements on the high pressure pump
- Interruption of fuel supply to the pump element on the high pressure pump by switching off the engine
- Regulation of the rail pressure in co-operation with the pressure regulator valve (Y74), rail pressure sensor (B4/6) and CDI control unit (N3/9)
Function
The fuel delivered by the fuel pump with fuel level sensor (M3) passes into the high-pressure pump flange and passed from there through the fuel temperature sensor (B50) to the flow control valve and to the fuel pressure relief valve. The quantity control valve controls the fuel amount according to the signal from the CDI control unit which is led to the 3 pump elements via an annular passage.
