Location
The belt force limiters are each located in the automatic belt retractor below the cover at the B-pillar on the left and right side of the vehicle above the crossmember.
Task
The belt force limiters are only used when the second stage of the driver airbag or the front passenger airbag is ignited in the event of a severe head-on collision. The belt force limiters are each activated for the driver or front passenger, and their purpose is to prevent injuries that are the result of excessive restraint forces of the tensioned seat belt.
