ME-SFI start quantity control, function - GF07.61-P-3010AMG
ENGINE 156.980 in MODEL 164, 251 up to Model Year 8
ENGINE 156.982 in MODEL 209
ENGINE 156.983 in MODEL 211, 219
ENGINE 156.984 in MODEL 216, 221 up to Model Year 8
In order to facilitate starting of a cold engine, in addition fuel must be injected during the starting procedure, depending on the coolant temperature. The increased injection quantity (start quantity) is achieved by extending the injection times.
The start quantity is dependent on:
- Starter recognition (terminal 50 signal)
- Coolant temperature
- Engine speed
- Following operation of the stationary heater, in addition to the external air temperature when the engine was last shut-off (CAN message from the instrument cluster), the shut-off time of the engine and the intake air temperature
The start quantity control is enabled after start recognition. It remains activated until a temperature-related engine speed is exceeded.
The higher the coolant temperature, the lower is the start quantity enable by the ME-SFI [ME] control unit.
