The transmission overload protection protects shift elements of the automatic transmission from excessive thermal stress during load changes in the upper engine speed range.
By briefly retarding the ignition timing and closing the throttle valve during shift operations, the engine torque is reduced.
To do this the ME-SFI [ME] control unit receives a signal via the CAN data bus from the electric controller unit (VGS).
