	Remove/install
	Risk of death caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform.	Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer.	AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
	Notes on self-locking nuts and bolts		AH00.00-N-0001-01A
	Risk of explosion from explosive gas. Risk of poisoning and caustic burns from swallowing battery electrolyte. Risk of injury through burns to skin and eyes from battery acid or when handling damaged lead-acid batteries	No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing and glasses. Only pour battery acid into suitable and appropriately marked containers.	AS54.10-Z-0001-01A
1	Disconnect ground line at battery		AR54.10-P-0003RK
	Notes on battery		AH54.10-P-0001-01A
2	Remove front exhaust system	Rear muffler remains on vehicle.	AR49.10-P-7100RKC
3	Unscrew nut (2)
4	Unscrew screw/bolt (1) and remove heat shield (3)	Bolt, starter to crankcase	*BA15.30-P-1003-01J
5	Remove contact protection (5) and detach electrical line circuit 30 (6)	Nut, connection for terminal designation 30	*BA15.30-P-1001-01J
6	Remove circuit 50 electrical line (7)	Nut, connection for terminal designation 50	*BA15.30-P-1002-01J
7	Expose wiring harness (8) at starter (M1)
8	Remove screw/bolt (4) and remove starter (M1) downwards	Bolt, starter to crankcase	*BA15.30-P-1003-01J
	Check
9	Check ring gear at the drive plate for wear and damage	To do this turn engine at the center bolt of the crankshaft in direction of engine rotation. Ring gear on the drive plate worn or damaged, see: ↓ Replace drive plate	AR03.30-P-8001RKC
10	Reinstall in opposite order
11	Read out fault memory and clear
			AD00.00-P-2000-04A
12	Carry out function check
