Overview
This document contains information on:
- General
- Function requirements
- Activation of hybrid system
General
The activation function in the powertrain control unit requests the precharging of the high-voltage intermediate circuit and the switching on of the contactor. Next, it assesses the status of the contactor and reports the system readiness.
Function requirements
- Circuit 15 ON
- No crash signal in this ignition cycle
- Active and trouble-free CAN bus connections to all high-voltage components
- High voltage security checked and released (no crash in interlock circuit error, no insulation fault)
Activation of hybrid system
The activation function checks the following requirements:
- Engine clutch, status
- High-voltage battery voltage
- Temperature of high-voltage battery
- Status of electrical machine
- Contactor status
When circuit 15 is switched on, the activation function in the powertrain control unit requests the precharging of the capacitors in the high-voltage intermediate circuit. After precharging is complete and the appropriate feedback, it requests that the contactor be switched on.
The battery management system control unit reports in the status signal that the contactor has been switched on. If the status signal fails, the activation function sets the status of the contactor internally to a substitute value.
After successful activation of the high voltage on-board electrical system, the powertrain control unit sets the status of the hybrid drive system to "operational."
The powertrain control unit transmits this status to the instrument cluster control unit, which displays a corresponding message in the instrument cluster.
