Remove/Install Left Fuel Rail - AR07.03-P-1011WA

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

  Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel. No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Detach battery ground line   AR54.10-P-0003W
2 Remove left-hand air filter housing   AR09.10-P-1150RKA
3 Remove soundproofing on left rail (1)    
4 Relieve fuel pressure over diagnostic socket   AR07.03-P-1460-01VA 
SPECIAL TOOL Pressure hose Fig 4
5 Relieve fuel pressure over fuel system high-pressure circuit   AR07.03-P-1460-02MM 
6 Remove crash plate for high-pressure pump   AR07.02-P-1020WA 
7 Unscrew high-pressure line (4) on left rail (1) NOTES Do not kink or bend high-pressure line (4). Otherwise leaks and damage can occur.  
8 Release and disconnect electrical connection on fuel pressure and temperature sensor   AR07.04-P-0050W 
9 Release and disconnect electrical connections on fuel injectors (Y76) of left rail (1)   AR07.03-P-0004W 
10 Release and disconnect electrical connections for ignition coils at left cylinder bank   AR15.12-P-2003W
11 Remove screw/bolts (1s) by turning each one through half a turn NOTES Begin in the center of the left rail (1) and work outwards.
Otherwise damage can occur to the left rail (1).
 
12 Remove hold-down tool (3) between left rail (1) and fuel injectors (Y76)    
13 Mark fuel injectors (Y76) of left cylinder rail (1) relative to the respective cylinder When reusing the fuel injectors (Y76) on the left rail (1).  
14 Detach left rail (1) from fuel injectors (Y76) of left rail (1)    
15 Remove fuel injectors (Y76) of left rail (1) IMPORTANT Engine oil which comes out during disassembly of the left rail (1) or from the fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1) is safe. The left rail (1) or the fuel injectors (Y76) of the left Rail (1) can be reused. AR07.03-P-0004W 
IMPORTANT The fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1) must  be pulled out since the left rail (1) may only be installed together  with the fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1).
in the case of jammed fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1)

Remove fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1).

CLEAN Clean     
16 Clean fuel connections on fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1) NOTES During cleaning the fuel connections must be held downwards.
This ensures that no dirt gets into the openings.
Assembly cleaner

INSPECT Check     
17 Check high-pressure line (4) and replace if necessary NOTES The sealing cone for the high-pressure line (4) must be checked before assembly. Otherwise leaks and damage can occur. AR07.03-P-1010-03MM

INSTALLING Install     
18 Replace sealing packages for the fuel injectors (Y76) on left rail (1)   AR07.03-P-0004-02MM

19 Replace sealing rings (11) on fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1)    
20 Replace seals (12) on fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1)    
21 Replace sealing rings (13) on fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1)   AR07.03-P-0004-01MM

22 Replace seal (2) on overflow connector of the left rail (1)    
23 Insert the fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1) marked during removal in the left rail (1) and fasten with hold-down tools (3) When reusing the fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1).
IMPORTANT Fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1) must be placed in the cylinder they were installed in before.
IMPORTANT Fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1) may only be installed again in combination with the left rail (1) (as a unit).
IMPORTANT Replace Hold-down tool (3).
 
24 Push new fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1) in the left rail (1) and fasten with hold-down tools (3) For replacing the fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1).
IMPORTANT Replace Hold-down tool (3).
IMPORTANT Fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1) may only be installed again in combination with the left rail (1) (as a unit).
 
25 Push left rail (1) with fuel injectors (Y76) of the left rail (1) in cylinder head    
26 Screw in screw/bolts (1s) alternately each by half a revolution NOTES Begin in the center of the left rail (1) and work outwards.
Otherwise damage to the left rail (1) can occur.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, fuel distributor to cylinder head cover

27 Put on and lock electrical connections for ignition coils at left cylinder bank   AR15.12-P-2003W
28 Put on and lock electrical connections on fuel injectors (Y76) of left rail (1)   AR07.03-P-0004W 
29 Put on and lock electrical connection on fuel pressure and temperature sensor   AR07.04-P-0050W 
30 Mount high-pressure line (4) on left rail (1) NOTES Do not kink or bend high-pressure line (4). Otherwise leaks and damage can occur.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Union nut, fuel line to fuel distributor
*BA07.03-P-1001-01D 
31 Install crash plate for high-pressure pump   AR07.02-P-1020WA 
32 Mount cap on diagnostic socket TORQUE SPECIFICATION Cap on service connection *BA07.03-P-1007-01D 
33 Install soundproofing on left rail (1)    
34 Install left-hand air filter housing   AR09.10-P-1150RKA
35 Mount ground line to battery   AR54.10-P-0003W
36 Read out fault memory using the diagnostic system and clear if necessary    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04A
INSPECT Check     
37 Check fuel high-pressure circuit for leak tightness.   AR07.03-P-1010-04MM 
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
38 Carry out an engine test run, checking the engine for proper operation and leak tightness
