Short And Long-Range Radar Sensor, Component Description - GF30.30-P-3126LFM
Model 217, 222
as of model year 2018
with code 23P (Driving Assistance package)
Shown on model 222
Location
The near and long-range radar sensor is located in the center in front of the radiator.
Tasks
The near and long-range radar sensor has the following tasks:
- Actuation, power supply and evaluation of target data from the integral long range radar
- Transmission of object data for vehicle longitudinal control to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive control unit (N62/4)
- Transmission of object data for traffic area monitoring to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive control unit
- Transmission of object data to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive control unit for checking the plausibility of the stereo multifunction camera (A40/13) object data
- Transmission of object data for collision-avoiding intervention by the brake system to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive control unit
The control electronics integrated in the near and long-range radar sensor actuate the long range radar and evaluate the target data. The object data from the long range radar are transferred from the near and long-range radar sensor to the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive control unit via the suspension FlexRay (Flex E).
This results in the following tasks for the near and the long-range radar sensor:
- Reading in input factors
- Evaluation of input factors
- Actuation of assembly parts
- Transmission of initial parameters
Reading in input factors
The near and long-range radar sensor transmits and receives the following input signals via the chassis FlexRay:
- Radar request
- Diagnosis request
Evaluation of input factors
Input factors are evaluated by the integrated control electronics.
Actuation of assembly parts
The front near and long-range radar sensor actuates Radom dome heater (R61) via a directed line.
Transmission of initial parameters
The near and long-range radar sensor transmits and receives the following input signals via the chassis FlexRay:
- Target data from the radar
- Diagnostic data
Structure
The near and long range radar sensor contains control electronics for actuating and evaluating the long range radar.
The near and long-range radar sensor must be readjusted using the integrated "Service Adjustment Mode" after exchange (e.g. after accident repair).
