Remove/Install Low-Pressure Fuel Line - AR07.03-P-1120MRI

Engine 264 in Model 205, 253 

MODIFICATION NOTES

25.02.2019 "Remove purging switchover valve (Y58/1)" added. Operation step 6

DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting.
Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by fuel spraying out at high pressure
Keep all ignition sources out of hazard area. Do not carry out any work on system when it is pressurized. AS07.16-Z-0001-01A 
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contact with fuel. No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/Install     
1 Relieve fuel pressure using diagnostic system.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS   IMPORTANT
To do so, select following menu items:
ME-SFI [ME] control unit →
Actuation →
Actuate the fuel pump
AD00.00-P-2000-04B
2 Remove charge-air distributor. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT
Do not install Engine cover until after the leak test.

3 Remove fuel high-pressure pump shielding (2a). INSTALLATION IMPORTANT
Do not install Engine cover until after the leak test.

4 Remove holder (2b). TORQUE SPECIFICATION
Screw, rear Engine cover holder to cylinder head

5 Remove center and rear Engine compartment lining. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT
Only install Engine compartment lining after leak test.

6 Remove screw (3). TORQUE SPECIFICATION
Screw, purge valve holder to crankcase

7 Loosen line bracket (4). SPECIAL TOOL
Dismantling tool

8 Remove purging switchover valve (Y58/1) from the crankcase and place to one side with connected lines. IMPORTANT
Do not disconnect purge line (1b) from the purging switchover valve (Y58/1).
 
9 Remove fuel hose (2d) from low-pressure line (2c), collect escaping fuel using a suitable container, and seal openings with suitable stop plugs. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT
Install new fuel hose (2d).

10 Remove screws (2e). TORQUE SPECIFICATION
Screw, low-pressure line holder to cylinder head/crankcase/holder

11 Remove low-pressure line (2c) from fuel high-pressure pump and seal openings with suitable stop plugs. TORQUE SPECIFICATION
Union nut, fuel line to high-pressure pump/fuel distributor

INSPECT Check     
12 Check low-pressure line (2c).   AR07.03-P-1120-01MNE 
Assembly cleaner
If damage is present,

replace low-pressure line (2c).

13 Install in the reverse order.    
WARNING Risk of burn injuries,  suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out o the hazard area. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when Engine running.
Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the Engine while it is being started or when it i running.
Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
14 Carry out Engine test run and check Engine for proper operation and leak tightness.    
15 Install Engine compartment lining.   AR61.20-P-1105LW
16 Install Engine cover.   AR01.10-P-2405MRI
