Functional Limitations Of Distance Control, Detailed Information - GF30.30-P-0024-01A

Model All (CAR)

Overview

This document contains information on:

General

Distance control regulates the distance from a preceding vehicle as specified by the driver. In this connection, functional restrictions of the distance control can occur due to different factors.

Function

System features impaired

The distance control can, for example, be impaired or may not function as expected in the following situations due to the system features:

The system can not respond or only in a limited manner in the following cases:

Obstacles and stationary vehicles

The distance control can not react to obstacles or stationary vehicles that are not detected by the sensor system. The system may not react sufficiently or at all, for example if the vehicle in front turns and there is a fixed obstacle or a stationary vehicle in front

Curves, curved entrances and exits

The distance control can only detect vehicles in curves to a limited extent. One's own vehicle can then brake unexpectedly or late.

Vehicles moving across in front of one's own vehicle

The distance control can detect crossing vehicles by mistake. If distance control is activated, the vehicle can drive off unintentionally (such as at an intersection with cross traffic).

Lane changes by other vehicles

Vehicles that swing into the regulated distance can cause unexpected braking by the distance control.

Offset driving style

The distance control may possibly not detect vehicles driving offset to the side. The distance to the vehicle in front becomes too small.

Narrow vehicles

The distance control does not detect the vehicle in front at the edge of the road due to its narrow width. The distance to the vehicle in front becomes too small.
