Location

The front near and long-range radar sensor is located in the center, in front of the radiator.

Tasks

The near and long-range radar sensor has the following tasks:

The control electronics integrated in the near and long-range radar sensor actuates the long range radar and evaluate the target data. The object data from the long range radar are transferred from the front near and long-range radar sensor via the chassis FlexRay (Flex E) to the Intelligent Drive control unit.

This results in the following tasks for the near and the long-range radar sensor:

Reading in input factors

The front near and long-range radar sensor receives amongst other things the following input signals via the chassis FlexRay:

Evaluation of input factors

Input factors are evaluated by the integrated control electronics.

Actuation of assembly parts

The front near and long-range radar sensor actuates Radom dome heater (R61) via a direct line.

Transmission of initial parameters

The near and long-range radar sensor transmits amongst other things the following initial parameters via the chassis FlexRay:

Structure

The front near and long range radar sensor contains control electronics for actuating and evaluating the long range radar.

IMPORTANT The front near and long-range radar sensor must be readjusted using the integrated "Service Adjustment Mode" after replacement (e. g. after an accident repair).
