Remove/Install Left Front Knock Sensor - AR15.12-P-2186XGC

Engine 177 in model 463 

as of model year 2019

WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

CAUTION Risk of injury  caused by scraping or cutting body parts on sharp vehicle parts Always wear protective gloves when working on or near sharp and non-deburred vehicle parts.
Deburr repair panels.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Drain engine oil.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP18.00-P-0101GDD
    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Only install lower engine compartment linings after engine test run.  
2 Remove the A/C compressor (A9).   AR83.55-P-5310XGC
3 Remove the oil line (5) from the engine, oil pan and left engine carrier, place to one side and seal openings with protective covers and suitable stop plugs. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT
Installation: Install new sealing rings.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION
Bolt, oil line to oil pan/crankcase/engine support

    SPECIAL TOOL
Set of protective caps

4 Release and disconnect the electrical connector for the knock sensor 3 (A16/3) at the separating point (6).    
5 Unscrew the screw (4) and remove the knock sensor 3 (A16/3) in a forward direction. INSTALLATION NOTES : The contact surfaces must be free from soiling.
Otherwise, knock sensor 3 (A16/3) will malfunction.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION
Bolt, knock sensor to crankcase
*BA15.10-P-1001-02G 
6 Install in the reverse order.    
7 Read out and delete fault memory.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.
 
Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
8 Carry out engine test run and check engine for proper leaktightness and leaktightness.    
9 Install lower engine compartment lining.   AR61.20-P-1105XG
