| 3 | Disconnect wiring harness from the starter. | AR15.30-P-7100-03MFG | |

| 4 | Remove screw/bolts (3). | *BA15.30-P-1003-01J | |
| 5 | Remove starter (M1). | ||
| Check | |||
| 6 | Check pinion of the starter (M1) for damage and wear. | If the starter (M1) is reused. If damage or wear are present, ↓ Replace starter (M1). |

| 7 | Check ring gear on flywheel/drive plate for wear and damage. | The engine must not be turned back against the direction of engine rotation. Otherwise, the timing chain will jump and engine damage will occur. In the event of damage or wear, ↓ Replace flywheel/drive plate. |
