	Risk of fire  /risk of explosion due to short circuit and escaping oxyhydrogen gas. Risk of (burn) injury  caused by caustic burns to eyes, skin and mucous membranes from battery electrolyte/mist, short circuit and arcing. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing battery electrolyte or absorption of lead through the skin or body orifices. Risk of death  due to voltage U >= 30 V AC and U >= 60 V DC.	No fires, sparks, open flames, or smoking. Wear acid-resistant gloves, clothing, and glasses. Pour battery acid only into suitable and appropriately marked containers.	AS54.10-Z-0001-01A

	Remove/install
1	Disconnect ground line from the starter battery (G1).		AR54.10-P-0003MFA
2	Discharge air conditioning system.		AR83.30-P-1760MFA
3	Remove engine air intake duct upstream of air filter (1).
4	Remove engine air intake duct downstream of air filter (4).		AR09.10-P-8130MFC
5	Remove right charge air hose (2).	Engine 260 in model 118, 177, 247 except code M016 (Uprated engine)
		Open and close coupling	AR09.41-P-1311-01AL
6	Remove fan unit.		AR20.40-P-5050MFD
7	Insert cooler protective plate.
			WF58.50-P-0110-01A
8	Remove screws (8) and remove side heat shield (7) at exhaust gas turbocharger.	Bolt, heat shield to exhaust gas turbocharger	*BA09.40-P-1009-02G
9	Unscrew nut (14), remove refrigerant line (3) and seal exposed openings with suitable stop plugs.	Nut, refrigerant line connecting point	*BA83.30-P-1002-01T

10	Drain off coolant.		AR20.00-P-1142MFC
11	Remove the poly-V-belt (5).		AR13.22-P-1202MFC
12	Remove coolant hose (13) at water pump and cooler, place to one side and seal.	Hose clamp pliers	Fig 2
13	Remove screw (15) at refrigerant compressor.	Bolt, refrigerant line to refrigerant compressor	*BA83.55-P-1002-02F
14	Remove refrigerant line (3) and seal exposed openings with suitable stop plugs.	Replace seals. Wet seals with compressor oil.

15	Release and disconnect electrical connector (11) at alternator (G2).
16	Remove cover (9) from circuit 30 at alternator (G2).
17	Unscrew nut (12) from circuit 30 at alternator (G2) and place electrical wiring harness (10) to one side.	Nut, circuit B+ to alternator	*BA15.40-P-1002-01W
18	Remove screws (6) at alternator (G2).	Tighten alternator screws/bolts	AR15.40-P-0002-01MFA
		Observe tightening procedure.
		Screw, alternator to timing case/major assembly carrier	*BA15.40-P-1001-01W
19	Carefully remove alternator (G2) upwards.
20	Install in the reverse order.
