General
Speed limitation limits the possible vehicle speed to a set value. The speed limitation system compares this with the actual vehicle speed. If the stored speed value is exceeded (e.g. by rolling downhill), the speed limitation system decelerates the vehicle automatically.
The driver can accelerate the vehicle up to the stored speed value. Speed limitation is activated as soon as the driver defines a speed value.
Vehicles with Driving Assistance Package:
Indicated speed limits registered by the traffic sign recognition system or location-related limitations from the navigation system can be adopted as the specified speed.
Function requirements
- Engine running or drivetrain operational
- Vehicle in forward travel
- Vehicle speed over 20 km/h
Function
Variable speed limiter
The variable speed limiter (e.g. for driving in built-up areas) limits the vehicle speed to a freely selectable value. This can also be changed while speed limitation is active. The set speed limit is briefly displayed to the driver.
The variable speed limiter can be deactivated at any time.
Permanent speed limitation
The permanent speed limitation (e.g. winter tire mode) is permanently functional. It must be set using the multimedia system. The vehicle speed can be limited to 160 to 240 km/h in 10 km/h increments.
Shortly before the set speed limit is reached, it is displayed to the driver.
Shutoff conditions
The variable speed limiter is shut off under the following conditions:
- Very low engine speed (vehicles with manual transmission).
- Kickdown activated (vehicles with automatic transmission).
Speed limitation is activated again when the vehicle speed falls below the limit.
