Remove/Install Left Front Knock Sensor - AR15.12-P-2186SB

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove upper engine cover.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP01.10-P-2405-01OB
2 Remove engine air intake duct upstream of air filter. SPECIAL TOOL Dismantling tool Fig 4
3 Remove oil filter element and seal opening with suitable protective cover.

REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Engine 256.9 in model 223 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive)

INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : Install new sealing ring and wet with engine oil.

4 Release and disconnect the electrical connector (2).    
5 Unscrew screw (1) and remove knock sensor (A16/2). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, knock sensor to crankcase *BA15.10-P-1001-02B 
CLEANING Clean     
6 Clean contact surfaces between knock sensor (A16/2) and crankcase. Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
7 Install in the reverse order.    
  Concluding tasks     
8 Connect diagnostic system, read out fault memory and clear if necessary.    
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-06FR
WARNING Risk of burn injuries  , suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the danger zone. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
9 Conduct engine test run while checking for proper operation of the engine.
