| 1 | Remove front axle differential. | Engine 176 in model 223 with code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) |

| 2 | Unclip electric lines from bracket (6). | ||
| 3 | Unclip electrical connectors (5) and place to one side. | ||
| 4 | Press both catch tabs outward and unclip gasoline particulate filter temperature sensor (163/2). | Engine 176 in model 223 with code 961 (Exhaust system with OPF, generation 2.0) |

| 6 | Release and disconnect the electrical connector (2). | ||
| 7 | Unscrew screw (3) and remove knock sensor (A30/2) downward. | The contact surface must be free from soiling. Malfunction of knock sensor (A30/2) will otherwise occur. |
