Remove/Install Fuel Injectors - Ar07.03-D-0004TSC

WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
  Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by fue spraying out at high pressure Keep all ignition sources out of hazard area. Do not carry out any work on system when it is pressurized. AS07.16-Z-0001-01A
  Risk of explosion  caused by fuel igniting, risk of poisoning caused by inhaling and swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury to eyes and skin caused by contactwith fuel. No fires, sparks, open flames or smoking. Pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers only.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove rail.   AR07.03-D-1010TSC 
2 Mark fuel injectors (Y62) relative to the respective cylinder. Only when fuel injectors are to be reused (Y62).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : When reusing the fuel injectors (Y62) they must be inserted into the cylinder in which it was previously installed.
 
3 Remove fuel injectors (Y62) from the cylinder head. INSTALLATION NOTES :
If fuel injectors (Y62) are replaced, the transport protective caps on the fuel injectors (Y62) should not be removed until one hour before assembly at the earliest.
This prevents leaks.
IMPORTANT Oil, which comes out during the removal o the rail and the fuel injectors (Y62), is safe. The fuel injectors (Y62) can be reused.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : The fuel injectors (Y62) must be installed together with the rail.
If the fuel injectors (Y62) become stuck,

Remove injection nozzle (Y62).

INSPECT Check     
4 Check fuel injectors (Y62) for external damage. If the fuel injectors (Y62) are damaged,

Replace fuel injectors (Y62).
 
5 Install new sealing ring (3) of the fuel injectors (Y62).   AR07.03-S-0004-01EG 
    NOTES
Fuel injectors (Y62) must be installed immediately after calibration of the sealing rings (3).
The sealing rings (3) swell under the influence of the air humidity and can therefore be damaged during installation.

6 Remove sealing package of the fuel injectors (Y62) on the rail.   AR07.03-S-0004-02EG

7 Install new sealing rings (1, 2) on the fuel injectors (Y62).    
8 Install in the reverse order.    
  Concluding tasks     
9 Read out fault memory with vehicle diagnosis system and enter injector classification in the ME-SFI control unit (N3/36). For installation of new fuel injectors (Y62).  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-D-2000-06TS
WARNING Risk of burn injuries,  suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it.
Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust.
Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running.
 
Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
10 Perform engine test run. While doing so, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.
