Throttle Position (TP) Sensor/Switch

  1. Ensure idle speed and ignition timing are adjusted to specification. Stop engine. Disconnect negative battery cable.
    CAUTION: DO NOT tamper with throttle stop screw at throttle lever. Doing so may result in damage to throttle body.
  2. Unplug Throttle Position (TP) switch connector at throttle body. Insert 0.028" in. (0.7 mm) feeler gauge between throttle stop screw and stop lever. Check for continuity between terminals "B" and "D" on TP switch connector. See Fig 1 .
  3. To adjust, loosen TP switch attaching screws. Insert a 0.020" (0.5 mm) feeler gauge between throttle stop screw and stop lever. Rotate TP switch until continuity exists. Insert a 0.028" (0.7 mm) feeler gauge between stop screw and stop lever. Continuity should not exist. Repeat adjustment as necessary.
