Electronic Load Control Unit

ELU CIRCUIT PIN IDENTIFICATION

Switch PCM Pin BOB Pin Wire Color
ELU 1L 24 BLU

1)  Turn ignition off. Install BOB, leaving PCM connected. Turn ignition on. Voltage at BOB pin 11 should be more than 10 volts with all accessories off. Measure voltage at BOB pin 11 while turning each load circuit on and off: defroster, headlamps, blower speed to position 4, and cooling fan.

2)  If voltage drops to 1.5 volts while each circuit is on, ELU is okay. If voltage does not drop to 1.5 volts, go to next step. If sent here from QUICK TEST, return to WIGGLE TESTS; otherwise temporarily substitute known good PCM and retest.

3)  Turn all accessories off. Check for battery voltage at ELU Yellow/Green wire with ignition on. Inspect the ELU Black wire for continuity to ground. If conditions are as specified, go to next step. If conditions are not as specified, inspect and repair circuits as required.

4)  Turn ignition off. Unplug ELU connector. Measure voltage and resistance on appropriate circuits. See ELU SWITCH OPERATION table. If all switch circuits are as specified, temporarily substitute known good PCM and retest. If switch circuits are not as specified, inspect and repair circuits as required.

On 2, 3, Or 4 Position Less Than 5 Ohms
On 1 Or Off Position More Than 10,000 Ohms
(1) With ignition on.
(2) With ignition off.
