Pinpoint Test C - Left (Master) Window Inoperative

  1. With ignition off, disconnect master window switch connector located on left hand front door trim panel. Measure resistance between wire terminals on master window switch. See the MASTER WINDOW SWITCH RESISTANCES  table. If master window switch is okay, go to next step. If NOT, replace master window switch. Refer to WINDOW SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. With ignition off, disconnect inoperative window regulator and motor connector. Using a jumper wire, connect one terminal of window regulator and motor to battery positive terminal. Using a jumper wire, connect other terminal of window regulator and motor to negative battery terminal. Reverse jumper wires on window regulator and motor.
  3. Window will move in one direction (down or up) when battery voltage is applied. When battery voltage is reversed, window regulator and motor operated window in opposite direction. If window regulator and motor does not operate as specified, replace window regulator and motor. If okay, go to next step.
  4. With ignition off, disconnect window amplifier connector. See WINDOW AMPLIFIER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Measure resistance of Black wire between window amplifier connector and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If NOT, repair Black wire.
  5. With ignition off, disconnect window amplifier connector. With ignition on, measure battery voltage of Blue wire at pin No. 6 of window amplifier connector. If battery voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If NOT, repair Blue wire.
  6. With ignition off, disconnect window amplifier connector. Disconnect left front window regulator and motor connector. Measure resistance of Blue/Red wire (circuit PD14) and Pink wire (circuit PD15) between window amplifier connector and left front window regulator and motor connector. Measure resistance of Blue/Red wire (circuit PD14) and Pink wire (circuit PD15) between window amplifier connector and ground. If resistances are less than 5 ohms between window amplifier and left front window regulator and motor , and greater than 10,000 ohms between window amplifier and ground, go to next step. If NOT, repair Pink and/or Blue/Red wire(s).
  7. With ignition off, disconnect master window switch connector. Disconnect window amplifier connector. Measure resistance between master window switch and window amplifier connector. See the MASTER WINDOW SWITCH & AMPLIFIER CONNECTOR RESISTANCES  table. If resistances are okay, go to next step. If NOT, repair wire(s).
MASTER WINDOW SWITCH & AMPLIFIER CONNECTOR RESISTANCES

    Wire Color (Circuit) Ohms
    Blue/Red (PD08) Less Than 5
    Black/White (PD07) Less Than 5
    Black (PD09) Less Than 5
  8. With ignition off, disconnect master window switch connector. Disconnect window amplifier connector. Measure resistance between the master window switch connector and ground. Refer to the MASTER WINDOW SWITCH & GROUND RESISTANCE  table. If resistances are okay, replace window amplifier. If NOT, repair wire(s). Go to next Pinpoint Test.
MASTER WINDOW SWITCH & GROUND RESISTANCE

Wire Color (Circuit) Ohms
Blue/Red (PD08) Greater Than 10,000
Blue/White (PD07) Greater Than 10,000
Blue (PD09) Greater Than 10,000
