Without Scan Tool

  1. Step 1) DTCs can be erased from memory by switching PCM from diagnostic Mode 2, back to diagnostic Mode 1. To switch from Mode 1 (normal operating mode) to Mode 2, go to next step.
  2. Step 2) Turn ignition off for at least 3 seconds. Turn ignition back on. Disconnect self-test harness connector. See Figure. Using a jumper wire, connect terminals No. 3 and 6 together. After 2 seconds or longer, disconnect jumper wire and reconnect self-test harness connector. This switches MIL operation to Mode 2 (flash code retrieval mode).
  3. Step 3) To switch back to Mode 1 (and clear codes), repeat step 2). All DTCs should be erased from memory. Turn ignition off.
