Description & Operation

The remote keyless entry system consists of a Smart Entry Control (SEC)/timer module located behind center console, circuit breaker, power door lock actuators, courtesy light switches, remote transmitter(s) and necessary wiring. Remote keyless entry allows driver to unlock doors without using a key and can activate the panic alarm. Interior lights will illuminate when either UNLOCK or PANIC buttons are depressed. System will automatically turn off after 15 seconds or ignition switched is turned to RUN position. Interior lights will not turn off if they have been turned on by headlight control or any door is open. The system will shut off interior lights after 30 minutes if either front door is left open or 60 minutes if liftgate is left open.

When UNLOCK button on remote transmitter is depressed, driver door will unlock, interior lights will illuminate and parking lights and taillights will flash once. If UNLOCK button is depressed a second time within 5 seconds, all doors will unlock. When LOCK button is depressed, all doors will lock, horn will chirp and parking lights and taillights will flash. If any door is ajar, horn will not chirp and lights will not flash. Horn chirp feature can be turned on/off by holding LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on remote transmitter for 2 seconds. Hazard lights will flash 3 times each time system is toggled between on and off mode.

Panic alarm will activate if PANIC button on remote transmitter is depressed and held for longer than 1.5 seconds. Interior lights will illuminate, headlights and taillights will flash and horn will sound for 30 seconds. Panic feature can be disabled by depressing holding either the LOCK or UNLOCK button and PANIC button for 1.5 seconds.
