Test F: Output Shaft Speed Sensor
- Monitor OSS PID
Turn ignition off. Connect NGS tester to DLC. Start engine. Access OSS PID. Drive vehicle and monitor OSS PID. If OSS PID increases as vehicle speed increases, replace TCM. If OSS PID remains constant, go to next step.
- Check OSS Resistance
Turn ignition off. Disconnect OSS sensor harness connector C164. Measure resistance between terminals No. 1 (component side) and No. 2 (component side) at OSS harness connector C164. See Figure
. If resistance is 500-650 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 500-600 ohms, replace OSS.
- Check For Internal Short
Measure resistance between terminals No. 2 (component side) and No. 3 (component side) at OSS harness connector C164. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not greater than 10 k/ohms, replace OSS.
- Check OSS Circuit
Disconnect TCM harness connector C277B. Measure resistance of White wire between terminal No. 3 at OSS harness connector and terminal No. 5 at TCM harness connector C277B. See Figure
and Figure
. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in White wire. If resistance is not grater than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Check OSS Circuit
Measure resistance between terminal No. 2 (Orange wire) at OSS harness connector C164 and terminal No. 5 (White wire) at TCM harness connector C277B. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS
. If resistance is not greater than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Check OSS Circuit
Measure resistance between terminal No. 5 (White wire) at TCM harness connector C277B and ground. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, replace TCM. If resistance is not greater than 10 k/ohms, repair open in White wire.
