Test H: Throttle Position Sensor
- Check For Power To TP Sensor
Turn ignition off. Disconnect TP sensor harness connector C163. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage at Blue/Yellow wire between ground and terminal No. 2 at TP sensor harness connector C163. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, repair open in Blue/Yellow wire. If voltage is not greater than 10 volts, go to next step.
- Check TP Sensor WOT Circuit Resistance
Turn ignition off. Measure resistance between terminals No. 1 (component side) and No. 2 (component side) at TP sensor harness connector with throttle closed and fully open. If resistance is less than 5 ohms with throttle fully open and greater than 10 k/ohms with throttle closed, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace TP sensor.
- Check TP Switch Idle Circuit Resistance
Measure resistance between terminals No. 2 (component side) and No. 3 (component side) at TP sensor harness connector with throttle closed and fully open. If resistance is less than 5 ohms with throttle closed and grater than 10 k/ohms with throttle fully open, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace TP sensor.
- Check TCM Red/White Wire Circuit
Disconnect TCM harness connector C277A. Measure resistance of Red/White wire between terminal No. 17 at TCM harness connector C277A and terminal No. 1 at TP sensor harness connector C163. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, repair open in Red/White wire.
- Check TCM Brown/Yellow Wire Circuit
Measure resistance of Brown/Yellow wire between terminal No. 16 at TCM harness connector C277A and terminal No. 3 at TP sensor harness connector C163. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace TCM. If resistance is not less than 5 ohms, repair open in Brown/Yellow wire.
