Valve Body: Disassembly

  1. Remove valve body filter. Remove solenoid assembly, line pressure solenoid, TFT sensor and valve body wiring harness from valve body. See Fig 1 . Discard solenoid "O" rings. Remove manual control valve and EPC solenoid valve and spring from lower valve body. Unbolt and remove lower valve body from intermediate and upper valve body. Turn lower valve body with inner side facing upward. Remove 2 accumulator support plates.
  2. Remove lower valve body separator plate. Remove check balls and relief valve springs. With intermediate valve body facing upward, remove from upper valve body. Remove 5 check balls from intermediate valve body. See Figure .
  3. Remove solenoid reducing filter from upper valve body (if equipped). Remove separator plates and gaskets from upper valve body. Remove 5 check balls from upper valve body. See Figure .
  4. Remove, clean and install each valve individually as needed. See Figure . Lubricate moving parts with ATF. Ensure all valves move (snap) freely in valve bores. If valve sticks in its bore and cannot be freed, valve body must be replaced. Do not attempt to hone valve bores or polish valves.
  5. Inspect valve springs for damage or deformation. Measure valve spring free length. See VALVE BODY SPRING FREE LENGTH  table. Replace as necessary. Reassemble components in reverse order of disassembly.
