Total End Play Adjustment

  1. Place straightedge across output shaft rear bearing surface (pump support). See Fig 1 . Measure from top of straightedge to mating surface of oil pump assembly. Subtract thickness of straightedge from measured distance to obtain dimension "A".
  2. CAUTION: Ensure oil pump gasket is in place during measuring procedure.
  3. Place straightedge across oil pump mounting surface of transaxle case. Ensure oil pump gasket is installed between straightedge and transaxle case. Using depth micrometer, measure distance from top of straightedge to reverse clutch roller bearing. See Fig 2 . Subtract thickness of straightedge from distance measured to obtain dimension "B".
  4. Use equation: "B" - "A" = total end play  . Total end play should be .010-.022" (.25-.55 mm). Select proper thickness 3-4 clutch drum bearing race to obtain correct total end play. Bearing races range in thickness from .031" (.80 mm) to .075" (1.90 mm), in .008" (.20 mm) increments. Install bearing race.
