Programmable Module Installation (PMI) method is used when a new programmable module is installed. Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) tester or New Generation Star (NGS) tester automatically obtains any valuable module option content information from old module during vehicle ID routine that runs when diagnostic tool tester is initially connected to vehicle. It is important to connect diagnostic tool tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). See Figure. DLC is located under instrument panel between steering column and the radio. See Figure. Allow it to identify the vehicle and obtain configuration data prior to removing any module.
