DTC Descriptions

  1. DTC P0300: Random Misfire Detected

DTC P0300 indicates a fluctuation is detected by PCM from data received from CKP sensor. Possible causes are as follows:
    • Incorrect spark plugs.
    • Low cylinder compression.
    • Incorrect fuel pressure.
    • Fuel injector circuit is open or shorted.
    • Faulty fuel injectors.
    • Intake air leaks.
    • Low fuel volume.
    • Secondary ignition circuit is open or shorted.
    • Damaged flex-plate (flywheel).
    • Faulty HO2S-11.
    • Incorrect distributor rotor

For DTC P0300, perform a cylinder balance test. All cylinders should respond.

  2. DTC P0301-P0306: Corresponding Cylinder Misfire Detected

Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor circuit is monitored by PCM. From data received from CKP sensor, test fails if a fluctuation is detected by PCM when cylinder No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 is to fire. Possible causes are as follows:
    • Incorrect spark plug.
    • Low cylinder compression.
    • Incorrect fuel pressure.
    • Fuel injector circuit is open or shorted.
    • Faulty fuel Injector.
    • Intake air leaks.
    • Low fuel volume.
    • Secondary ignition circuit is open or shorted.
    • Damaged flex-plate (flywheel).
    • Faulty HO2S-11.
    • Incorrect distributor rotor

For DTCs P0301-P0306, perform a cylinder balance test. Corresponding cylinder to DTC should respond.
