Disassembly And Assembly Of Subassemblies: Differential: Assembly

  1. Position the side gear thrust washers on the back of the differential side gears.

  2. Position the pinion gear thrust washers on the back of the pinion gears.

  3. Install the side gear/thrust washers into the differential case.

  4. Install the pinion gears in the differential case.
    • Rotate the pinion gears to properly position.

  5. Install the differential pinion shaft.

  6. Install the shaft lock pin into the differential case.

  7. Install the speedometer gear.

  8. Install the differential bearing.

  9. Install the differential bearing.

  10. CAUTION: Install the final drive gear in the original position based upon the marks made during disassembly.
  11. If removed, install the differential final drive gear.
    1. Position the gear.
    2. Install the bolts.
