Selector Lever Cable: Removal

    All vehicles 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the air cleaner and the outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  3. Remove the center console. For additional information, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL .
  4. Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the selector lever.

  5. Depress the tab on the selector lever cable and lift up on the selector lever cable to remove it from the housing.

  6. Pull the carpet and the insulation back to access the cable retainer and rubber grommet.
  7. Remove the 2 bolts for the instrument panel brace.

  8. Pull the selector lever cable toward the front of the vehicle, and position the cable over the top of the rear floor heat duct.

  9. Carefully pull the bottom of the instrument panel brace and slide the selector lever cable out from behind the brace.

  10. Remove the 2 nuts from the rubber grommet at the bulkhead and remove the cable from the retainer.

  11. CVT transaxle 

  12. Disconnect the selector lever cable end.

  13. Remove the electrical connector from the selector lever cable bracket.

  14. Pull the plunger to unlock the cable and remove the cable from the bracket.

  15. 6-speed transaxle 

  16. Disconnect the selector lever cable end.

  17. Remove the electrical connector from the selector lever cable bracket.

  18. Pull the plunger to unlock the selector lever cable and remove the selector lever cable from the bracket.

  19. All vehicles 

  20. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the brake tube bracket.

  21. From inside of the vehicle, pull the selector lever cable through the bulkhead and remove from the vehicle.
