High Pressure Pump
The high pressure pump is mounted on the left rear frame rail of the underbody. This pump delivers fuel under high pressure to the fuel manifold which routes the high pressure fuel to the individual fuel injectors. The pump and manifold are connected by a 5/16" nylon fuel line.
The pump has an internal relief valve to provide over-pressure protection in the event that fuel flow becomes restricted by a clogged fuel filter or pinched fuel line. The pressure relief valve is set at 138 psi (9.7 kg/cm2 ). Normal system pressure is maintained at 39 psi (2.7 kg/cm2 ) by the pressure regulator mounted on the fuel manifold. The pump is sealed unit and is serviced only as an assembly. See Fig 1 .
