Fuel Pump Pressure & Volume

  1. Connect EFI Fuel Pressure Gauge (T80L 9974 A) and Adapter Hose (T85L 9974 A) to the Schrader valve on the fuel supply manifold. Start the engine. If the engine will not start remove fuel pump relay. remove fuel pump relay. Connect a jumper wire from relay terminal No. 87 in panel to the alternator output terminal.
  2. With the pump running, check the reading on the pressure gauge. If the fuel pressure reaches 35-45 psi (2.4-3.0 kg/cm2 ), the pressure reading is within specifications.
  3. Insert the test volume hose in a graduated container and open the flow control valve for 10 seconds. If the fuel pump delivers 7.5 ounces in 10 seconds, the volume is okay.
  4. Disconnect the jumper wire and observe the pressure gauge. THE system should hold a minimum of 30 psi (2.0 kg/cm2 ). Reinstall fuel pump relay. See Fig 1 .
