Boost Control Solenoid

  1. Visually inspect wiring and hoses for deterioration or leaks. Ensure that all connections are clean and tight.
  2. Remove solenoid wire connector and turn ignition to the "RUN" position. Attach test light between Red wire of wire connector and ground. If light does not illuminate, an open circuit exists in the power feed circuit.
  3. Attach a jumper wire from solenoid connector purple wire to ground. Turn ignition on and confirm that solenoid "clicks". If unit does not "click", replace the boost control solenoid.
  4. Attach ohmmeter probes between solenoid connector Purple wire and ECA pin No. 32. If continuity does not exist, repair open in ECA control circuit.
  5. Use a hand operated pump to apply vacuum through the turbocharger hose. Replace unit if vacuum is not held.
