EPROM (Electrically Programmable Read Only Memory)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 136 other vehicles, including the 2008 BMW 760Li, 2008 BMW 650i, 2007 BMW Z4, 2007 BMW X5, and 2007 BMW X3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

An EPROM  is a removable chip with multiple connector pins which plug into the printed circuit of the control module.

When re-programming this type of control module, the EPROM must be removed and a new "blank" EPROM installed prior to programming.
