Electronic Control Unit (Ecu)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 21 other vehicles, including the 2003 BMW M5, 2003 BMW 540i, 2003 BMW 530i, 2003 BMW 525i, and 2002 BMW M5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

ECU computes acceleration, deceleration and slip factors as generated from rotating wheels via 4 pulse sensors. ECU program can determine correct response behavior of the system based on these computations. ECU response is sent by electronic signals to electromagnetically operated valves in ABS hydraulic unit.

The ECU contains electronic monitoring circuits. These monitoring circuits ensure proper operation of ABS. If control unit detects a defect in wiring harness or any electrical equipment, monitoring circuit will switch off ABS, permitting normal use of standard brake system. ANTI-LOCK indicator light will glow.
